Around the Clock Style: Daytime Edition

August 16, 2011

Dressing for a night out on the town (when you can typically wear whatever you’re in the mood for) is usually pretty simple. But making an outfit work double duty and be appropriate for a day on the job, too? That’s no easy task.

Yet that was exactly our goal in BRAVA’s August Live in Style feature, found on stands now.

Inside the issue, we highlighted a fun and sassy outfit for after hours along with layering and accessorizing tips that help make the outfit perfect for a night on the town.

Here you can see the equally fabulous daytime look. The shirt-dress is buttoned for a sophisticated feel appropriate for the office, with accessories that are a bit more subtle. A black belt pairs perfectly with print in the dress, while accentuating your waist in a flattering way. Cute flats also let you run around all day comfortably, and throwing your hair into a loose, wavy ponytail keeps your hair stylishly out of your face. Fun accessories like a chunky silver necklace, chic earrings, and a handy watch also help pull the whole look together.

For the transition after work, be a quick change artist by unbuttoning your shirt-dress to reveal a slip underneath, trading your belt and jewelry for bolder options, and throwing on a pair of bright heels.

Shirtdress by Kensie, $88, belt, $28, necklace, $28, earrings, $15; Hot Mama, Hilldale, Madison. Watch, $18; Francesca’s, West Towne Mall, Madison. Withem flats, $50; Aldo, West Towne Mall, Madison.
