All About the Dress

March 11, 2011

The weather is warming (don’t you love it when  40 degrees seems warm?) and daylight saving shifts our clocks this weekend. All signs that wedding season—oh, and spring—is on its way! As the invites arrive and you start planning gifts for friends and family members, consider a unique, artsy gift featured in BRAVA’s March issue that is perfect for a stylish bride’s bachelorette party, bridal shower or even post-wedding or anniversary gift. It’s all about celebrating the dress.

The story: Oh you’ve seen them—the stylish sketches from the top design houses in the world, showcasing celebrity gowns and new fashion lines as true pieces of art. When Madison resident and freelance illustrator Jen Thompson, a graduate of the textile and apparel design program at UW-Madison, offered to sketch a gown as a gift, Illustrate the Dress was born.

How it works: It’s as simple as the snap of a camera shutter. Send Thompson a detailed photo of the front of a bridal gown (or a high-quality photo online), and for $225 a work of art is yours. Created on high-quality paper with pencil, marker and paint, the 11×14 illustration is matted and packaged in a gift-ready box.

Who will love it: For the bride who will always remember the moment she found the dress of her dreams, a high-style illustration makes an ideal gift for bridal showers, bachelorette parties, wedding days, anniversaries and more.

How to contact: Visit illustratethedress.com.

And while we have your attention, don’t forget to submit your wedding for the BRAVA Celebrations section! Each month we feature four wedding announcements at no charge. Contact meagan@bravaenterprises.com for more information!
