The Frugal Fashionista: Designer Deals

October 15, 2010

Jersey Batting Shawl Cardigan | $175 |

If there’s one thing we can all agree on it’s the love of finding a great deal!  Fashion designers have taken note and are creating some steals themselves.  More and more high-end designer labels are creating companion lines that showcase the same great quality and creativity,  just at a more wallet friendly price.   T by Alexander Wang, created in 2008, began as a line of basic tees and now has transformed into a full collection.  “T represents the fluidity and casual aspect of how t-shirts are worn, but will now transcend into different categories,” Wang said.  One of my  favorites from the line is of course the open cardigan.  In order to keep stretching my summer wardrobe I’d toss this cardi over  a short airy dress and pair it with dainty socks and cute booties.  It would also make a great layering piece for work when belted over a crisp white button up and paired with tailored pants and a striking heel.

$175 may not be considered a bargain to everyone, but there still are other ways to find designer styles for less.  Target has their GO International line which has showcased fashion from such designers as Rodarte, Zac Posen, Jovovich-Hawk and Thakoon.  Even Wal-Mart is jumping on board and will be carrying Miss Tina, a line by Tina Knowles, the mother of Beyoncé and co-owner and designer of both Deréon and House of Deréon.

So I encourage you to watch those runways for inspiring looks and wow moments, but also feel free to take it down a notch and relate fashion into your everyday look.
