The Muse: Cozy Chic

September 24, 2010

Last week I caught a snippet of “The Martha Stewart Show” and to my delight they were demonstrating all the fabulous ways to wear the DKNY “Cozy.”  Taking a tip from The Frugal Fashionista’s blog on Sept. 9 about transitioning your fall wardrobe with cardigan sweaters, I headed straight to my closet and went shopping! I remember purchasing an item quite a few years ago at a little boutique in Sedona, AZ which was very similar to the DKNY “Cozy.”  I’ve had it in my closet for years now, but have never worn it because I never could make it look right.  The ladies on Martha’s show all looked fantastic and every style they twisted, pulled and wrapped the Cozy to fit right into all of today’s popular trends.  I decided it was high time I give my “cozy” a whirl…or a twist or wrap!

Before I start raving about this item I wanted to share with you a link to check out the snippet of the segment I caught so you have idea what the “Cozy” is.  You can check it out here:  There is even a short video, which makes learning the different wraps even easier!  If you’re not able to open the video on your browser, you can also check out the You Tube video posted below.

I’ll be referring to this item through-out the blog as the “cozy” to makes things simpler, but if you find or have found something similar that isn’t the actual DKNY “Cozy,” don’t worry!  There are other versions of this piece available.

What makes this item such a great addition to my wardrobe, and hopefully yours, is that it is obviously so versatile.  You’re not getting just one piece of clothing when you purchase a “cozy,” you’re getting over 12 super cute additions to your closet!  How could you go wrong?  Especially this time of year in Madison, when the weather goes from rainy and cold one day to sunny and warm the next.  Even better, we could start the day cool and crisp and by mid afternoon, its humid and 85 degrees.  What’s a girl to do?  Grab your “cozy!”  Throw it on as a wrap sweater, backwards or forwards, in the morning and when the sun finally peeks out, transform it into a halter top or sleeveless cowl neck!  Say you’re heading out later that evening and you brought a change of clothes with you to the office but have a feeling that brisk morning air might return that evening.  The “cozy” has you covered!  Your once wrap sweater turned halter top is now a scarf or pashmina!

Don’t let the fall weather stop you from wearing the “cozy” as a halter or sleeveless cowl neck.  Both of these versions look great over a button-down shirt or t-shirt. Besides a cardigan or sweater,  think of the “cozy” as a vest or corset and get creative! Get ready gals, this piece will take you from your weekend, to your office and then out on the town.  If you come up with another great way to wear the “cozy” comment and let us all know! As always, have fun with this trend.

Until next week,
