Flavors of Fashion: Rock It!
Hi BRAVA Readers, Carolyn here. This week I want to talk about a trend I have been seeing everywhere. Rocks, rocks, and more rocks! Rock embellishments and accessories are paving their own way this summer.
With summer in full swing, it’s time to let our hair down and get back to the natural side of life. What better way to do that then to support the “rock movement”?! Literally—rocks—whether fake or real, are huge this summer! It’s a creative way to celebrate the summer season. I was out and about recently and found some great stone pieces. Here’s a few I really enjoyed:
These brilliantly colored faux rocks make a fantastic earring choice. They are extremely lightweight since they aren’t real—a nice way to give your ear lobes a break. They also have a very elegant “dangled” appearance which makes them a good pairing for an up-swept hairstyle!
This sandal features a burnished metal adornment. It resembles a beveled stone and acts as a great centerpiece to the radial, bohemian design of the sandal. A pair of these could accent any casual jean, short or prairie skirt.
When I saw these cuff bracelets, I was smitten! I loved the delicate stitch detailing around the rocks, and the crocheted appearance of the bracelet’s band. A cuff like this would be great with an outfit that has a pattern. Match the cuff color to one of the colors in the pattern, and your outfit will really pop.
These three necklaces feature real stones, from lapis lazuli to coral and turquoise. They are made in the Himalayan Region and are exquisitely crafted. Wear one with any complementing solid shirt or dress, or layer a few of the necklaces for a more intricate look.
This slip-on sandal prominently highlights a creme colored agate. The sandals themselves come in three shades, while the rock color remains the same. Try sea-foam green for a casual summer look, black for a more sophisticated tone or patent leather red for a vibrant and fun attitude.
This funky necklace displays an eclectic selection of rocks and beads. There is no rhyme or reason to the tiers, which is what I love about it. This necklace is a showstopper all on its own, so pair it solid shirt or dress. I suggest drawing out one of the color’s of the rocks and combining it with a shirt choice of the same color. It will really draw attention to the details and patterns within the necklace.
