Mollie’s Must-Haves: Shimmering Sensation

March 13, 2009

Welcome to my newest addition to the brava blogosphere : Mollie’s Must-Haves.

If you’re like me and an avid reader of Jennifer LaMore’s friends blog, then you might have noticed her weekly “Favorite Things” that she’s posting weekly. And, because imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, this goes out to you Jennifer — what a fabulous idea!

Each Friday, I’ll write about one product that I absolutely cannot live without, in hopes it will inspire YOU to go out and try it.

This week is all about BECCA‘s Shimmering Skin Perfector (shown in Rose Quartz).

When I first tried this product, I was at Prep having my makeup done. Lindsey (an absolutely FABULOUS makeup artist at the store) told me that every time she does a bride’s makeup, she uses this product. Apparently, when used correctly, it lights up your face in photos by reflecting light in just the right way. I’ll take that!

Though it rings in at a whopping $41, I promise you this product is worth the dough. First, you only need a tiny pump each time, so it lasts forever. And second, you’ll look amazing in photos — what more could you ask for?

Lindsey’s directions: Apply just a touch of the shimmering product to your temples, blending down through the upper cheeckbones and up, right near the outer eyebrow. When you turn your face either way, the light should reflect off your cheekbone area creating a lovely sheen. But be wary — too much of this can lead to looking borderline greasy. Think: less is more!

To purchase this online, visit:, or visit Prep Cosmetics at 553 State St., Madison; (608) 442-3366.

Side note: Whenever my girlfriends need a pick-me-up, I always send them to Prep and have Lindsey do their makeup. Prep offers free makeup applications, and that way, you can relax, forget about life and instead, immerse yourself in the latest makeup trends, all without lifting a finger!
